Gemma is a freelance copywriter focused on food, nutrition, sustainability and technology

Your story matters. How you tell it makes all the difference.

I pride myself on finding the story behind your brand or campaign. Whether it's a blog post or magazine article, a website title or packaging, the best way to convert content into meaningful change is with a good story.

I can lend my pen to a wide range of topics; however, I have a keen interest in the future of food, its relationship with climate change, and how it affects well-being. Food impacts how we live, and how we live impacts food; what we eat is becoming a complicated conversation. Getting the language right is essential, and I want to help with that.

What can I offer?

Complete content creation

From a blank piece of paper to a finished piece of content, including research, interviews, copy creation, editing and even publication

Defining and amplifying brand

Together, we explore current brand tone, where it's working and importantly, where is isn't, creating a new voice that matches company ambitions

Proof reading and editing

We don't have to start from scratch. If you've got useful stuff but it needs refreshing and restructuring, I can do that too. This is especially useful with AI-generated content as, more often than not, it needs a human touch to make it sound - well, more human!

If you’ve got this far, I’ve hopefully peaked your interest. Here’s a little more about why you should work with me.

Over the past two decades, I have worked in PR and marketing for agencies and in-house. I was fortunate enough to learn my craft at some of the biggest agencies in the world, including Ogilvy Worldwide and AxiCom. Clients in the technology and energy industries provided a solid foundation for my career as a technical writer.

In 2017, I studied nutrition, wanting to understand the link between food and mental health. As of 2024, I’m upskilling further, studying for an advanced nutrition diploma registered with the Royal Society of Public Health.

I want to use my knowledge of nutrition and combine it with an interest in sustainability and technology. Whether it’s listening to nature via regenerative farming, digitising with AI, robotics, and big data, or simply enabling people to make healthier choices, I’m fascinated. I’m hoping to help organisations talk about products and initiatives that benefit the health of people and the planet.

I’m a working Mum and happiest pottering in my garden. Oh, and did I mention, I make board games too. That’s another story. Read about it here.

Enough about me, let’s talk about us
